Upon successful completion of this module, you should be able to:
| relate glucose metabolism, pathophysiology of diabetes and epigenetic factors to the clinical as well as atypical presentation of diabetes and its complications |
| differentiate the various types of diabetes and compare the incidence and prevalence of diabetes in Malaysia with the global epidemiology |
| discuss diabetes management, prevention of micro- and macro-vascular diabetes complications and differentiate the varieties of glucose lowering medications as well as other related medications including the role of complementary medicines in diabetes management |
| demonstrate the preparation and administration techniques of insulin and other injectables and correct annual preventive screening procedures in foot and eye care |
| demonstrate patient-centred counselling and education using updated evidenced-based resources for patients and/or caregivers on prevention and management of acute diabetes complications |
