Upon successful completion of this module, you should be able to:

relate glucose metabolism, pathophysiology of diabetes and epigenetic factors to the clinical as well as atypical presentation of diabetes and its complications
differentiate the various types of diabetes and compare the incidence and prevalence of diabetes in Malaysia with the global epidemiology
discuss diabetes management, prevention of micro- and macro-vascular diabetes complications and differentiate the varieties of glucose lowering medications as well as other related medications including the role of complementary medicines in diabetes management
demonstrate the preparation and administration techniques of insulin and other injectables and correct annual preventive screening procedures in foot and eye care
demonstrate patient-centred counselling and education using updated evidenced-based resources for patients and/or caregivers on prevention and management of acute diabetes complications
