  • Topic 8 Introduction

    You have almost come to the end of the module. This topic 8 is another very interesting topic on Basic Genetic Concepts and Patterns of Inheritance in Health and Illness. As nurses, we always ask our patient's family history during admission while performing history taking. Thus, why family history is so crucial in health assessment? In this topic, you will be able to explore more and understand better on patterns of inheritance, principles of dominance and multiple gene inheritance. In addition, this topic will also broaden your understanding on mutations: causes, types and effects and genetic involvement in health and diseases. By learning this topic, you are expected to have a clearer idea on some of the common inherited disorders thus you will be more equipped in caring for patients with genetic disorders.
