    • COURSE SYNOPSIS

      This course aims to provide an introduction to philosophy which includes the Philosophy of National Education (FPK) and Rukun Negara. Students will be exposed to the use of philosophy as a medium to purify the culture of thoughts in life through the art and methods of thinking as well as human concepts. Major topics in philosophy namely epistemology, metaphysics, logic, and ethics are discussed in the context of current issues. Emphasis is given to philosophy as a basis for inter -cultural dialogue and fostering common values. At the end of this course, students will be able to see the disciplines of knowledge as a body of knowledge that is comprehensive and related to each other.

      OBJECTIVES

      The main aim of this course is to foster an appreciation of philosophy, values and history among students. This course provides an emphasis of the aspects of the relationship between humans and its implications for the environment.

      Teaching & Learning

      This module will be delivered through a combination of asynchronous and synchronous online learning. Please refer to the schedule uploaded on the TIMS system/IMU portal for details on each session.

      • Asynchronous Sessions: You are required to watch the recorded lecture sessions uploaded on the e-learning portal before attending any live sessions. Ensure that you go through the provided materials and complete any assigned tasks.
      • Synchronous Sessions: These sessions will be conducted live via an online platform and are compulsory. Attendance will be recorded, and active participation is expected.

      As MPU is a compulsory module, completion of all learning activities in each topic will be counted as part of your attendance. Failure to meet the 75% attendance requirement will result in being barred from the Final Examination and a FAIL status for the module.
