Main course page

  • This course covers the introduction of drugs used in medical treatment. The students will be expected to study the different grouping of drugs, the therapeutic dose and effects, side effects, and contraindications. This course will also look at the responsibilities of the nurse in administrating medications prescribed and some practical sessions on drug administration through a variety of modes.

    Learning outcomes:

    On completion of this course, the student will be able to:

    CLO1:   Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, drug actions and interactions (C2-Cognitive, PLO6, Apply)

    CLO2:   Demonstrate competency in performing and/or assisting nursing procedures related to drug administration (C3A-Practical, PLO2, Apply)

    CLO3:   Use nursing process in the care for patients related to drug administration (C2-Cognitive, C3D-Digital, PLO6, Apply)
