      At the end of this session, students will be able to:

      LO1: explain the role of complementary and alternative medicine in patient wellness
      LO2: discuss reasons why herbal and dietary supplements have increased in popularity
      LO3: identify the parts of a herb that may contain active ingredients and the types of formulations made from these parts
      LO4: discuss the role of the nurse in teaching patients about complementary and alternative therapies
      LO5: identify common drug-herbal interactions

      LO6: appreciate the importance of understanding the role of alternative therapies in patient wellness
