Family is a basic unit of a community. Family health is the corner stone of community health that encompasses health of a person from womb to tomb. This model has four basic streams namely maternal, child, adult and elderly health. Maternal health covers the principles of reproductive health covering safe motherhood and high-risk approach in maternal and child health care. Child health component covers the basic concepts in child health including growth, development, immunisation and feeding. Adult health covers both women and men's health. Elderly health discusses common health problems among this vulnerable group. Unit:
